The Digital Letter is a digitally submitted letter that reaches the recipient either digitally in the Post app or physically in the letterbox, depending on their preference. As the sender, you only need the postal address – the Post takes care of the rest. This choice of delivery method is called hybrid delivery.
How the Digital Letter works
- Digital submission: You submit your letters digitally – via ePost SmartSend or an interface (ePost oneAPI). The recipient’s postal address is sufficient.
- Processing by the Post: The Post checks, sorts, and delivers the mail. Every item is legally compliant and sealed.
- Hybrid delivery: The recipient receives the item digitally in the Post app or physically in the letterbox. For digital delivery, a notification is sent immediately via push notification or email.
If a recipient does not want digital delivery, the Post automatically delivers physically to the letterbox. This way, you reach all recipients.
Two ways to submit
- ePost SmartSend: Upload documents directly as PDF and send digitally – ideal for daily mail, invoices, or a quick start without additional software.
- ePost oneAPI: Automate sending processes and connect directly to your systems – for companies with large volumes.
Secure and legally compliant
- End-to-end encryption: Contents remain inaccessible to third parties. The Swiss postal secrecy also applies digitally.
- Qualified timestamp and electronic seal according to ZertES prove the acceptance time and authenticity of the item.
- Proof of delivery: Every item is documented with a receipt and delivery confirmation.
- Swiss data centres: All data is stored and processed exclusively in Switzerland.
